WANT TO HELP CIRCULATE PETITIONS TO GET THE REFERENDUMS ON THE BALLOT?

EmpowerJacksonville.org can use your help in witnessing Jacksonville citizens complete the referendum forms and getting them turned in to the Supervisor of Elections.

We’d love to have your help circulating petitions! If you are interested in helping us collect petitions, you’ll need the Voters Right to Repeal Petition, the Straw Ballot Petition, and the Circulator Affidavit.  We’re asking that petition circulators commit to either collecting the two EmpowerJacksonville.org petitions at one or more large event or to commit to collecting petitions from now until the deadline to submit petitions in January 2018.

We also ask that you fill out the contact information to the right so that we can follow up with you, as necessary.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

STEPS TO CIRCULATE PETITIONS

  • WITNESS

Find individuals willing to sign the Voters Right to Repeal AND the Straw Ballot on the HRO petitions . Have them fill out the top of the forms and then witness them signing each petition. You must verify that the person signing the petition is the one whose name is on the petition.  As the circulator, you then sign the bottom of each petition.

  • NOTARIZE

Once you have 50 petitions, it is time to bind them with a rubber band.  The Voters Right to Repeal and the Straw Ballot on the HRO petitions will need to be bound separately in stacks of either 50 or 100.  Obtain the Circulator’s Affidavit and have it notarized by a Notary of the Public. **The Supervisor of Elections has agreed to notarize the Circulator Affidavit when you are delivering the bound petitions, but you must have a copy of the Affidavit with you.

  • DELIVER

Personally deliver the bound petitions and enclose the signed and notarized Circulators Affidavit to the Duval County Supervisor of Elections (105 E. Monroe Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202). If you are unable to personally deliver the petitions and you need to mail them, please document the mailing by utilizing “tracking the package” requiring a signature.   Do not hold on to petitions for more than a couple of weeks.  It is critical that petitions be turned in as soon as possible after being collected in order to meet the deadlines for collection.
